Please join Pride Community Center and Friends Congregational Church, UCC for the 2021 Transgender Day of Remembrance. This worldwide event held on November 20th of every year honors those who have died this past year in part due to anti-transgender violence.
As of November 4th, Texas has accounted for 7 transgender victims. Nationally there have been 69 struck down since October of 2020. At over 400 persons impacted by such violence worldwide, this is a time for us to come together, honor those whose lives have been lost, and have the hard conversations on ending this violence and reducing these kind of killings.
By and large, our queer family with intersecting identities along dimensions of race, socio-economic status, gender, and other marginalized identities are disproportionately impacted by this violence.
The conversation needs to happen, this violence has to end.
Please join us as we remember, reflect, and own how we will make change.
