Mental Health Among Black Women College Students

Hello,

I hope all is well! I am Ajhinae Brooks, an undergraduate student studying Sociology at Rice University. I am working on a research project for an Honors Thesis with the Sociology Department at Rice. In this research project, “Experiences, Attitudes, and Mental Health among Black Women College Students,” I aim to explore how microaggressions in higher education impact Black women’s mental health, with a focus on LGBTQIA+ Black women college students. For data and methods, I am performing a qualitative study by collecting survey data. This survey is completely anonymous, and all responses will be confidential.

I am reaching out to inquire about the possibility of your assistance with recruitment. I will have attached the survey and recruitment flyer. You may share the survey with as many people as you would like. This can include sharing the survey with student organizations, through ListServs, on social media, etc.

Ultimately, this research will contribute to the ongoing conversation about advocating for equitable mental health support and culturally competent care for the most vulnerable and oppressed populations in higher education.
